Capt. Doug Henderson with Salted Flats Fly Fishing gives Angler’s a detailed description of a day Fly Fishing for Trophy Louisiana Bull Redfish.
Nothing like clear cold day’s on the Biloxi Marsh in Louisiana! Fish were floating well today with lot’s of shot’s at some monster Redfish. The wind subsided nicely after the last few of 30+ mph gusts. It was a nice surprise to see that the water was still super clear and ideal for sight fishing. Looking forward to tomorrow and some more Floating Pumpkins! Capt. Doug Henderson
We got to fish in the clouds and some rain today but still a bunch of shot’s at Stud Bull Redfish! The crystal clear water and white sandy bottom of the Biloxi Marsh make tough weather day’s totally doable. The shear immense size of our Redfish doesn’t hurt either… Capt. Doug Henderson
A big day on the Marsh with the Hagness Boy’s from Wisconsin! Despite lot’s of clouds we managed to have a pretty awesome morning and afternoon with the Bull Redfish really turning on during the Tide Rise of the afternoon. Chris caught a personal best of 30 pounds! Congrats to him! The water is perfectly clear with good numbers of fish and we have several more day’s together in the Biloxi Marsh… Captain Doug Henderson
The Saltwater Fly Fishing opportunities surrounding New Orleans, La are on fire! We had yet another 40-60 shot’s at fish over 25 pounds lasting the entire day. The water’s continue to be crystal clear in the Biloxi Marsh making Sight Fishing to our Bull Redfish gangbusters! I’m really looking forward the rest of the season. Capt. Doug Henderson
High Pressure and cold clear water is what December Redfish season in the Biloxi Marsh is famous for. We nothing less than perfect conditions today and the fish new it and enjoyed it as much as we did. Shot after shot the ENTIRE DAY at Bull Redfish over 20 pounds. My Anglers were pretty worked at the end of the day having never held still as a result of either casting or fighting a monster Bull. Wintertime Redfish in Louisiana! Enjoy the pics! Capt. Doug Henderson
Had a great couple of days fishing the Biloxi marsh out of Hopedale LA. The weather was choice with the wind out of the north east clearing some Big fish water that has been a little to dirty to fish for a week or 2 allowing us to sneak in a stick unsuspecting monster Bull Redfish. We had shots at fish in the 20-36 pound range throughout both days! The Louisiana Marsh is really heating up with temperature drop and the high pressure. Clear sky’s and water’s accompanied by Stud Redfish makes a great couple of mid November day’s. Here’s a pic of a 25 pound fish from today and a 35 pounder from yesterday! Enjoy! Capt. Doug Henderson
An awesome day on the water of the Biloxi Marsh in Louisiana! We had schools of Bull Redfish as well as Jack’s pushing banks and aggressively feeding all day. This time of year the Louisiana Redfish group up into massive schools in a pre spawn ritual. When the fish are grouped up like this which resembles a sea of orange surrounding the Skiff they can be rather competitive towards eating, making them ideal for targeting on Popper Fly’s. Bull Redfish on Popper’s enough said… The water’s continue to clear making site fishing these Bull’s all the better. Enjoy the Pics, Doug Henderson
Jan Maizler and I left New Orleans this morning in search of the famed Monster Lousiana Redfish. The cloudy morning gave way to blue sky’s and warm water filled with loads of 25+ pound Biloxi Marsh Redfish! Jan connected with the fish above almost immediately followed shortly by another! Water is clear and the fish are in good number’s in the shallows. Tight Lines!
