New Orleans Redfish Expeditions
High Pressure and cold clear water is what December Redfish season in the Biloxi Marsh is famous for. We nothing less than perfect conditions today and the fish new it and enjoyed it as much as we did. Shot after shot the ENTIRE DAY at Bull Redfish over 20 pounds. My Anglers were pretty worked at the end of the day having never held still as a result of either casting or fighting a monster Bull. Wintertime Redfish in Louisiana! Enjoy the pics! Capt. Hopedale Fly Fishing Expeditions
A great day on the water out of Hopedale, La. Bull Redfish in great number’s most of the areas we fished throughout the day. We were on so many fish we ended hooking up on a stud while resetting the Fly Line in the Stripping Bucket. Unbelievable!! December in the Louisiana Marsh is off the charts. Salted Flats Fly Fishing has Redfish fever and we are looking forward to some Venice, Louisiana Bull Redfish starting October 1st. We also will start fishing Hopedale, Louisiana as well. The water’s of the Biloxi Marsh begin to hold the massive Bull Redfish mid September but the water tends to be a bit off color. Early October you can expect to find very fishable water’s loaded with 30+ pound fish. For those Angler’s who do not want to make the 2 hour trip to Venice every day Hopedale is an easy 45 minute drive from New Orleans and offers the same fly fishing opportunities as the Venice water’s. We will be fishing these water’s from October 1st – March 1st.
Louisiana Redfish
Mardi Gras season and Louisiana Fly Fishing! With Fat Tuesday a day away all the Saints are on there worst behavior and the city is bustling with festive Parades and Parties alike. It’s time for food, fun, and flats fishing! We hit the road for Hopedale this morning for a day of Fly Fishing for Louisiana Redfish. The day before was riddled with very high winds upwards of 30 mph but this morning promised clearing sky’s and the winds to lay down which they did. We had plenty of shot’s at the 5-10 pound range fish all morning and fed 2 and caught 1. This afternoon we decided to try and find some bigger fish so from noon till about 2 we polled the deeper open Gulf water’s and got a couple of shot’s at 15-25 pound fish and caught 1. Jay had a flight to catch so we left the water at 2. As the afternoon progressed the bigger Redfish were definitely pushing back up on the Flats after seeking refuge from yesterday’s high winds in the deeper water. Looking forward to tomorrow! Fly Fishing New Orleans, Louisiana
Had a good time with Jack and Steve from Oregon the last 3 days. They stayed in the French Quarter and enjoyed the great food of the surrounding area. We fished out of Hopedale targeting the Monster Louisiana Redfish on the Fly Rod as well as Spin Gear. Fly Fishing the Louisiana Marsh is by far the best place for Redfish over 20 pounds on a daily basis! Tight Lines
