Louisiana Fly Fishing Redfish

Louisiana Marsh trips:

During the fall and winter months Salted Flats Fly Fishing is based in New Orleans, Louisiana right in the heart of the famous Redfish Fly Fishing Destination that is the Louisiana Marsh. The Marsh in average spans 15 miles from main land to the open Gulf of Mexico.  It was created by sediment carried from up north to the south and deposited by the Mississippi River.  The river system is the largest in North America and drains an area of 1.2 million square miles.  In a time period of 6,000 years the river has built a Delta onto the Continental Shelf of the Gulf of Mexico covering an area of over 9,000 square miles.  These lowland marshes make up 22% of the total coastal wetlands in the lower 48.  Needless to say the Bio Mass here in coastal Louisiana is staggering.  We invite you to come enjoy Red Fishing at it’s finest.  The Louisiana Marsh is no doubt the best Redfish fishery on the planet.  We concentrate on the outer Marsh where the big fish are.  Salted Flats Fly Fishing will pole you in 1-6 feet of water where the fish range from 20-40+ lbs.  We fish where many world records have been caught.

Our Louisiana Fly Fishing Guides work the waters from Hopedale and the Biloxi Marsh to Venice as well as a number of other undisclosed locations.  We will take you on a Louisiana Fly Fishing Trip of a lifetime targeting only the big Bull Red Fish.  You can expect to catch 1-5 Trophy Redfish in a day all though 15+ fish days are common.

In the early fall months we move to the appropriate locations where the Bull Redfish school up and prepare for their annual spawn.  During the fall and winter months Salted Flats Fly Fishing concentrates on the Biloxi Marsh where the Big Redfish come in to feed in the warm, shallow, gin clear waters.

Salted Flats Fly Fishing always works hard for you on the water.  We are an exclusive Fly Fishing Guide Service with the knowledge, experience, and ability to truly sight fish in most conditions except lightning.  We fish blue sky day’s, cloudy days, even windy days with great success.  We want our clients to have the best opportunity to land that Redfish of a lifetime and that opportunity starts by being out there in this special fishery.  Our mission is to give our clients the most memorable experience with us on the water leaving them with bragging rights and wanting to come back for more.

Louisiana Fly FishingYour day or days with Salted Flats Fly Fishing will begin by meeting Captain Doug Henderson at one of three predetermined restaurants depending on which is closest to the landing we will be using that day.  Angler’s should arrive at the restaurant at 6:45AM in order to eat and order lunch sandwiches for the day.  I will arrive at 7:30AM ready to go.  This will put us on the water by 8:00AM.  This gives the water time to warm up after the cool nights.
